The reason for the suspension \u201cnecessary technical reviews and adjustments in the general system\u201d. Passengers will now have to use shuttle buses instead of the new train commuting between Terminals 1, 2 and 3 every day.<\/p>\n
However, the new Sky Line Frankfurt Airport opened just a month ago at \u2019. The self-driving train, on its 5.6-kilometer route, Terminal 1\u2019 to Terminal 3\u2019e, is designed to carry up to 4,000 \u2019 and non-Schengen passengers per hour. The aim was to provide a fast, efficient and free service by getting passengers to their destinations in just eight minutes. Twelve trains, each consisting of two wagons, are planned to work on the line that will connect the regional and long-distance train stations of Frankfurt Airport\u2019 to Terminal 3\u2019.<\/p>\n
It is not yet clear when Sky Line\u2019 will fulfill these promises once again. Operator Fraport asked for the passengers' understanding and said he was working to get the train back into service as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
According to Frankfurt Airport\u2019, Terminal 3\u2019 is intended to usher in a new era. The transition from Terminal 2\u2019 to Terminal 3\u2019e is scheduled to be completed on June 9, and the operator says the new terminal will have a capacity of 19 million passengers per year. Fraport has invested a total of 4 billion euros in the project.
