Ryanair, the largest airline in \u2019, Germany, plans to stop seven aircraft operations in the \u2019 capital on October 24, and will soon say goodbye to the Berlin base.<\/p>\n
The carrier noted that air traffic fell from 36 million passengers in 2019\u2019 to 26 million last year, calling Berlin\u2019i \u201cEuropean\u2019's most unsuccessful airport.<\/p>\n
The budget airline said in a statement that all seven aircraft based in \u201cBerlin will be re-allocated to lower-cost airports in other EU countries that, in this case, lift aviation taxes, such as Sweden, Slovakia, Albania and Italy.<\/p>\n
Ryanair has counted the number of flights it operates from Berlin\u2019e and Berlin\u2019e in its winter program. %He's gonna cut it by 50.<\/p>\n
The carrier's complaints also stem from people's frustration with the German commercial aviation model, which Ryanair DAC CEO Eddie Wilson \u2019 describes as the \u2019aptal aviation tax regime\u201c, which relies largely on high taxes.<\/p>\n
Wilson also accused German aviation of being the \u201cbozuk\u201d due to the lack of an exit plan for lowering aviation taxes or high airport fees.<\/p>\n
\u201cRyanair had to stop all flights to Dresden, Leipzig and Dortmund\u2019a since 2019\u2019, as well as close their bases in Frankfurt, D\u00fcsseldorf and Stuttgart\u2019 (which resulted in the loss of 13 aircraft), added \u201d.<\/p>\n
According to the carrier, the aviation tax has doubled since 2019\u2019 from 7.30 Euro\u2019 to 15.50 Euro\u2019 per passenger, safety fees are expected to increase from 2024\u2019te 10 Euro\u2019 to 20 Euro\u2019 per passenger by January 2028\u2019, air traffic control fees have tripled to 3.30 Euro\u2019 per passenger and have already increased since the Covid-19 period in addition to increased airport fees as of 2029 %An increase of 10\u2019 will come into effect.<\/p>\n
It seems that this feeling was a surprise for Berlin Brandenburg Airport.<\/p>\n
In a statement via airport X, \u201cRyanair said \u2019 was surprised by \u201d's announcement at this point. We're still in talks with \u201c Airlines. No increase in airport fares is planned.\u201d<\/p>\n
The budget carrier's announcement also comes after the German Federal Cabinet's Ministry of Finance confirmed \u2019's plans to roll back its flight taxes (Luftverkehrsteuer) to 2024 levels.<\/p>\n
