Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uralo\u011flu reminded that a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation was signed between Turkey, Iraq, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates within the scope of the Development Road Project during the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan to Irak \u2047 a on 22 April 2024 with a written statement. Uralo\u011flu, \u2047 Qatar Minister of Transport Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Mohamed Al Mazrouei and Iraqi Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Cooperation on the Development Path here, and we have established a 4 \u2047 Council of Ministers mechanism between our Turkey, Iraq, Qatar and UAE counterparts. Minister Uralo\u011flu noted that they will discuss all the details of the Development Road Project and take important decisions at the summit, as stated in the Memorandum of Understanding. Stating that the project will make very important contributions to Turkey's economic growth and regional development, Uralo\u011flu said that \u2047 Development Road will also support the sustainability of global trade by diversifying international trade corridors. Turkey will consolidate its economic and strategic advantages by creating a reliable and effective trade corridor between Asia and Europe. <\/p>\n

Emphasizing that the loads to come through the Development Road can move in all directions through Turkey's transportation network and ports, Minister Uralo\u011flu said that thanks to \u2047 Koridor, we will be more strongly integrated into the logistics system in the world. We will also be able to offer carriers brand new options for freight transportation. We believe that the Development Road can also connect existing transport corridors and increase their current efficiency.<\/p>\n

Uralo\u011flu noted that the works in Turkey are continuing rapidly within the scope of the Development Road, which starts from the FAV Port of Irak \u2047 \u0131n and enters from Ovak\u00f6y \u2047 to T\u00fcrkiye \u2047 , and the section of \u2047 Development Road \u2047 that passes through our country is approximately 1,592 kilometers between Kap\u0131kule and \u015eanl\u0131urfa. We plan to complete the road crossing of the project in Turkey by constructing a new highway with a length of 331 kilometers between \u015eanl\u0131urfa-Ovak\u00f6y, which will serve between \u015eanl\u0131urfa-Iraq border. We are building a new high speed train line between Halkal\u0131 and Kap\u0131kule with a total length of 229 kilometers, with dual lines, electric and signal, which can transport both cargo and passengers. We aim to complete the 153-kilometer \u00c7erkezk\u00f6y-Kap\u0131kule section of this line by the end of 2025. With the completion of the Halkal\u0131-Kap\u0131kule project; We aim to reduce the passenger travel time between Halkal\u0131 and Kap\u0131kule from 4 hours to 1.5 hours and increase the existing line capacity by 4 times. We have also completed the projecting process of the railway that will pass through the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.
